SUNDAY MORNINGS
| When: |
September through May
9:15 - 10:15 AM |
| Children: |
Nursery through 5th Grade |
Classes are offered for toddlers, 23 months by September 30, through adult, with childcare available for infants.
Preschool through Kindergarten:
Through a variety of fun and active learning methods including games, crafts, drama, music and song, etc. the children are introduced to the Bible as God’s gift and our guide. With the older preschool children, time is also spent talking about our church family, worship and prayer. Parent teams teach the classes with help from paid childcare staff.
Grades 1 through 5:
Our Elementary age program is based on the Workshop Rotation Model (WoRM) for Sunday School. The children spend several weeks learning one key Bible story many different ways. Each week the classes rotate to a different workshop that emphasizes a different style of learning. Our workshop possibilities include Drama, Missions, Art, Computer, Video, Games, and Cooking.
Workshop leaders teach the same lesson for 5 weeks adjusting the task and discussion each week for the grade level in attendance. Each class has two “shepherds” who are adults volunteers who stay with one class for the whole year and assist the Workshop Leaders.
Our Sunday School space is equally a part of the experience with scripture and murals painted in hallways and classrooms.

Adult Classes:
The Fred Ford Class utilizes current books of a theological and psychological nature, along with the Bible to discuss a range of Christian faith and lifestyle issues. The members address about 6-8 books a year under a variety of leaders. This class meets in the Chapel across from the Choir room on the second floor.
The Fellowship Class presents a variety of studies each year often reflecting on Biblical themes and from the perspective of adults and families living a Christian lifestyle in a challenging world. They meet in room 200 on the second floor of the Christian Education wing.
Weekly Bible Studies:
Women's Bible Study meets 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:45 - 8:00 PM in the parlor off the narthex. Tuesday Morning Bible Study for women meets every Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 11:15 A.M. in the Conference Room.
Dialog Breakfast for all adults is for the early birds. This group meets for study, fellowship and a light breakfast every Thursday at 6:15 AM in the Church Parlor. |

SUNDAY SCHOOL AT WAYNE UMC
Janet French, Director of Christian Education
610.688.5650 ext. 17
At Wayne UMC we believe that learning should be fun and active. Many adults take part in the teaching/guiding process. We teach a faith that “has feet” and our elementary children do about three mission projects a year.
Our adult classes are short term studies that have ranged from a Bible study on a particular book of the Bible to a lovely Advent study on the stories behind the Christmas Carols to a study of What Would Jesus Eat. At times we offer specialized studies on marriage and parenting as well.
Many of my teachers have found that teaching adults or children has deepened their faith more than if they had remained in the student role.
Join us and bring your children each Sunday. Grow your relationship and their relationship with God and know the warmth and love that comes from being a part of a church family.
I would be so happy to meet with you and answer any questions you may have. |
